Historic Easton Tower in Paramus NJ
Built in 1899, the Easton Tower is one of the coolest historical sites in Paramus. It is in close proximity to the Saddle River, Red Mill, and Paramus roads. One of its main purposes was to house a water pump on Edward D. Easton’s, a businessman’s property. It has an in-depth history and is very cool to see in person and learn all about its first uses and all the events that happened there.
Is the Easton Tower Haunted?
It was originally commissioned by Manuel Rionda as a tribute to his wife. Supposedly his wife ended her life by jumping off the top of the tower. It has been said that the Easton Tower is haunted and that by circling the tower at night one can summon the ghost of Manuel Rionda’s wife. While there is no concrete evidence of it being haunted, eerie noises and ghastly apparitions omit from this location, giving the appearance of it being inhabited by this ghost.
The Red Mill in Paramus NJ
The Red Mill, another historical site is located in the same park of the Easton Tower. There are many relics in Paramus, left from the Revolutionary War. Edward D. Easton, supposedly the original owner, was a founder of the Columbia Phonograph company which became known as Columbia Records. The Easton Tower is from a later era and does not have a connection with the Revolutionary War, despite its location. It is a very interesting site to see and while visiting this park in Paramus one can also go see the sites from the war as well.
